What we collect

  • Account information — your real name, email address, neighborhood and anything you add to your profile.
  • Content you post — community posts, comments, reactions, saved items, events and business listings you submit.
  • Messages you send us — contact form submissions, news tips and story nominations.
  • Newsletter preferences — the email address and neighborhoods you sign up to follow.
  • Basic technical data — standard server logs and privacy-respecting aggregate analytics used to understand what coverage is useful.

How we use it

We use your information to run your account, publish and moderate community content, send the newsletters you asked for, respond to your messages, verify business listings and keep the platform safe. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers.

Real names

Community participation uses real names. Your display name, neighborhood and posts are public. Your email address is never shown publicly. If you send a confidential news tip, we treat your identity as confidential — see our editorial standards.

Who can see your data

Dayton Talks staff and moderators can see reports, contact messages and submissions in order to do their jobs. Our infrastructure providers (hosting, database, email delivery) process data on our behalf under their own security obligations.

Your choices

  • Edit or delete your profile details at any time from your account page.
  • Unsubscribe from newsletters using the link in any email.
  • Request a copy of your data or deletion of your account by emailing hello@daytontalks.com.

Children

Dayton Talks accounts are for people 16 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 16.
